Kairos

Before church Sunday morning. Some of us went to 1st Baptist and the others (including me) went to Calvary Baptist. We got up and sang to the congregation and told them a little bit about what Kairos is.

These are the aprons that we wore.

After the morning devotional, us girls would always sing. This is us dancing around the room singing "Pharaoh Pharaoh". Fun times!

Cutting up veggies for the meals.

Look! Amanda CAN cook!!! And with a smile on her face!

Brandon was the only male Outside Angel. Here he is cooking up a mean roast. He was such a great sport. He even wore an apron all blinged out!!!! Go Brandon!

Part of the prayer chain.

The prayer chain went all the way around the room!!! Each strip of paper had a name of someone that was praying for the Kairos. The prisoners, aka "The Men in White" were so in awe and touched by how many people were praying for them that didnt even know them.

Stacy, Dianne, and Judy (Mama JuJu) keeping the whole thing together. What awesome ladies!

Some of the girls cooking bacon. I have never seen so much bacon in one place at one time in my whole life. Boy did we all smell good!

Blinging up our aprons. We seem to cook better when we are blinging out! Makes the food taste better! hehe

Jim, Ronnie, and Ryan on the first day. They WERE really happy to be there. You know how guys are when they take pictures. :]

We sent in a poster of all the Outside Angel's hand prints with our favorite verses written on them. The prisoners loved it and even wrote notes back to us on it!

The Outside Angels for Kairos July 2008. What an awesome team to work with!

Making some banana pudding. Yummy yummy! It HAD to be tasted to make sure it was good.

The mission of the Kairos Prison Ministry is to bring Christ's love and forgiveness to all incarcerated individuals, their families and those who work with them, and to assist in the transition of becoming a productive citizen. Kairos is a ministry of the church ... a ministry of the apostles whom Jesus, the Christ, has called into community and sent forth into the environment of the correctional institution. Kairos has been called the best example of the early church in existence today.

Wow what a wonderful experience!!! The Outside Angels, on Sunday, were aloud to go into the prison to hear about the experience from the prisoners. I was really surprised to see how on fire for God these prisoners were. As Ryan put it, "they were really plugged in". We had sent in placemats that had little kids handprints and footprints on them with scriptures. Ryan had noticed one guy in his group that had a placemat with Cash's handprint on it. Ryan told him that Cash was his son and the prisoner told him that he had just got through putting his hand on Cash's hand and prayed for him. Wow! That really touched Ryan. I remember one inmate saying that he thanked us for just treating them like human beings. The inmates also had a praise band and played two songs for us. They were really good! I have never seen grown men jump up and down and sing for the Lord without the slightest care in the world what they looked like or sounded like. How unashamed they were. What an awesome God we have. I dont know what these men are in there for and I really dont want to know. All I know is that God sees every sin as equal. There sin that got them to where they are today is no worse than me lying or cheating or cursing or whatever the case may be. They are still someones brother, father, son, uncle, grandfather. We ALL need to remember these men and lift them up in prayer. Pray that they keep the fire going and grow in their relationship with the Lord and share God's Word and love to others.
